TFCBT

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

An evidence based treatment, TFCBT is a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children and youth, as well as their parents and caregivers, impacted by trauma as a result of abuse, violence or grief.

Children are provided with a safe and stable environment to disclose their trauma and then, with the help of a therapist, given skills and resources to help cope with the psychological effects of the trauma.

This therapy usually also involves children practicing skills at home with their non-offending family members or caregivers.

If you feel you’re ready to begin your mental health journey, the first step is to contact Foundation Counseling Center by phone at  (256)-497-1790 or online to discuss the type of therapy (individual, family, or group) you are seeking.

The three phases of TF-CBT are stabilization, trauma narration and processing, and integration and consolidation.
