Existential

Existential psychotherapy

Existential psychotherapy is based on the philosophical belief that as human beings, we are alone in the world, and that this loneliness can only be overcome by creating meaning in our own lives and exercising our freedom to choose.

During this modality, an existential therapist will encourage you to face life's anxieties head on and to start making your own decisions. The therapist will emphasize that, along with having the freedom to carve out meaning, comes the need to take full responsibility for the consequences of your decisions.

Therapy sessions will focus on the your present and future rather than your past.

If you feel you’re ready to begin your mental health journey, the first step is to contact Foundation Counseling Center by phone at  (256)-497-1790 online to discuss the type of therapy (individual, family, or group) you are seeking.

It focuses on concepts that are universally applicable to human existence including death, freedom, responsibility, and the meaning of life.
