Sandplay

Sandplay Therapy

Sandplay therapy is designed to create a safe and protected space, where the complexities of your inner world can be explored. Often young children, (or older individuals) clients place miniature figurines in a small sandbox to express confusing feelings and inner experiences.

This creates a visual representation of the client's thoughts and feelings and can reveal unconscious concerns that are often inaccessible.

The therapist does not interpret, interfere with, or direct the your client's sand play but maintains an attitude of receptivity and acceptance, so the you client can bring unconscious material into consciousness without feeling censored.censure.

If you feel you’re ready to begin your mental health journey, the first step is to contact Foundation Counseling Center by phone at (256)-497-1790 or online to discuss the type of therapy (individual, family, or group) you are seeking.

Research shows that sand tray therapy also can help increase emotional expression while reducing the psychological distress that may come from discussing traumatic events or experiences.
